The Same Engine, In Your Pocket

Most space apps are a picture of space. DeepSpace is a simulation of it.

It is a living 3D map of everything humanity has sent into space: satellites moving on real physics, launches counting down on your Lock Screen, and the exact minute to step outside and look up.

A real Earth, not a skin

NASA Blue Marble by day, real city lights by night, and a day/night line driven by the actual position of the Sun. Tap any dot and the camera flies to it — the orbit draws itself and telemetry ticks live. Walk the Apollo sites, or find Perseverance in Jezero Crater.

The spacecraft are genuine NASA public-domain models: the ISS with its trusses and arrays, Hubble, Webb. Not stand-in geometry.

Why it is built the way it is

DeepSpace runs on the same space-domain-awareness engine as the platform work. Industry-standard SGP4 propagation. Pass times refined to the second by numerical root-finding. All of it computed on the device rather than on a server.

On-device is not a performance boast. It is what makes “tonight’s fly-overs above your sky, ranked by how good they will look” possible without your location ever leaving the phone.

Honest by design

A LIVE / SIMULATED badge is always visible. The app never fakes freshness. If the data behind a view is not current, it says so.

That is a small piece of interface, and it is the part we would defend hardest. An app that quietly shows stale positions is not a simplification — it is a different product, and a dishonest one. The same principle governs the platform: a feed that fails silently is worse than no feed at all.
